2023 NFL Playoffs Pool - Rules
WHAT TO DO:
There are 4 rounds of the NFL Playoffs:
1.) Wildcard Weekend (6 matchups)
2.) Divisional Weekend (4 matchups)
3.) Conference Championships (2 matchups)
3.) Super Bowl (1 matchup)
Each entry will choose who they think will win each of the 13 playoff games that comprise the NFL playoffs.
Entries will also rank each selection using a predetermined list of rankings for each round based on how confident you are in choosing the winner correctly (same as a typical football confidence league). Each week, you may not use the same point value more than once
If you choose the winner correctly, you will receive the points that you assigned for that game.
Any incorrect pick scores zero points
Example: New England vs Indianapolis (Divisional Playoff): You are extremely confident that Indianapolis will win the game, so you choose Indianapolis and assign the matchup a point value of 10. If the Colts win, you receive 10 points towards your overall point total. If the Colts lose, you receive 0 points. The other games follow the same format. See "Points Distribution Section" below for how much the point values are for each round.
Choose a predetermined set of values for each game based on how confident you are of your selection winning. Point values for games increase each week. Below is the breakdown of each round:
9 points- Most Confident of the 6 matchups
6 points: 2nd Most Confident
4 points: 3rd Most Confident
3 points: 3rd Least Confident of the 6 matchups
2 points: 2nd Least Confident of the 6 matchups
1 point: Least Confident of the 6 matchups
10 points- Most Confident of the 4 matchups
7 points: 2nd Most Confident
5 points: 3rd Most Confident
3 points: Least Confident of the 4 matchups
15 points: Most Confident of the 2 matchups
10 points: Least Confident of the 2 matchups
25 points: No other option here
IMPORTANT: YOU MUST USE EACH POINT VALUE ONCE IN EACH ROUND AND YOU CANNOT USE THE SAME POINT VALUE TWICE IN THE SAME ROUND.
NOTE: Maximum number of points you can earn in each round is 25 points. 100 points overall
The entry that accumulates the most points after the Super Bowl is completed will be declared the NFL Playoffs Pool champion.
As an added bonus, the pool champion will also have their name added to the Wall of Champions for a full year or until they are dethroned, and also added to historical winners on this page.
To increase your chances of winning, you may play as many times as you wish. Each entry will be scored separately.
If you would like to play a 2nd or 3rd entry, you may choose them at sign up. If you have already signed up and wish to add additional entries, please contact the league commish at firstname.lastname@example.org.
To pay for additional entries online, just change the quantity when you get the page where you pay for your entries.
IF YOU PLAYED LAST SEASON, when the pool is ready for the new season, you will receive an email invitation from me. There will be a link inside the email that will take you to a renewal form. Just complete the form, pay for your entries, and you should be good to go. If you wish to sign up sooner, you can also use the regular method to sign up for the pool.
IF YOU ARE NEW TO THE POOL, you will need to sign up before you can make selections online. The sign up link is at the top of this page. Here's how to sign up:
Please follow these step closely for a pain free sign up process.
1.) Click the "Sign Up Now" button in the "Cost to Play" section at the top of this page. This will take you to the sign up page.
2.) Complete the sign up page, then click "Submit" at the bottom of the sign up page. Make sure you complete all required fields or it won't submit.
After you have signed up, you should receive email instructions on how to access your entry/entries and pay for your entries.
If you have any questions during the process, please don't hesitate to contact the league office. Just click on the email address at the bottom of this page to email him.
Please note that in order to maintain the highest integrity of these pools, payments for all entries must be received by the pool deadline. If entries are not paid by the deadline, they will be removed from the pool for lack of payment. If you are having trouble with payment, please contact the commish.
You can make your selections anytime within 5 minutes of the scheduled kickoff time of each game. Selections may also be changed at any time prior to the regularly scheduled kickoff time for that game. Once the deadline has passed for a game, your pick/confidence value is locked in for that game. If you haven't made a pick by the deadline, you're out of luck.
PICKS POSTED BY COMMISH: If you need help making your selections or are having computer problems, please contact the commish with your selection before the deadline and he will make it for you.
WHEN ARE SELECTIONS POSTED: Selections are posted immediately after the start of each game.
WHEN ARE RESULTS POSTED: Results are posted shortly after the conclusion of each game.
