2017 NHL Playoffs Pool - Rules

There are 16 teams and 4 rounds that make up the National Hockey League playoffs. Teams are divided into Eastern and Western Conferences with 8 playoff teams in each. The 2 winners of each conference will meet in the Stanley Cup Finals.

Each entry will rank from 8 thru 1 (high to low) each playoff team in each conference. This rankings list will be based on how far you think each team will advance in the playoffs.

Here is a sample ranking breakdown (this is not the actual playoff list):

8. Pittsburgh Penguins
7. Washington Capitals
6. Montreal Canadiens
5. Boston Bruins
4. New York Islanders
3. New York Rangers
2. Tampa Bay Lightning
1. Toronto Maple Leafs

8. Chicago Black Hawks
7. Minnesota Wild
6. San Jose Sharks
5. Nashville Predators
4. Detroit Red Wings
3. Columbus Blue Jackets
2. Anaheim Ducks
1. St. Louis Blues

For each team that wins their series, your entry will receive points based on the ranking number you gave that team. Using the rankings above, if the teams listed below all won their series in the first round, this entry would receive 48 points for the first round. Here is the breakdown of how points would be rewarded.

Sample First Round Results:

Eastern Conference
8 pts: Pittsburgh
7 pts: Washington
6 pts: Montreal
4 pt: New York Islanders
25 pts

Western Conference
8 pts: Chicago
7 pts: Columbus
5 pts: St. Louis
3 pts: Dallas
23 pts

Total Round 1: 48 pts

Bonus points will be multiplied to each ranking after each round all the way to the Stanley Cup Finals. Here is the breakdown:

ROUND 1: Team Ranking x 1

ROUND 2: Team Ranking x 2

Team Ranking x 4

Team Ranking x 8

The entry that accumulates the most points after the Stanley Cup Finals will be the NHL Playoffs Pool champion.

For all tied entries, any payout will be split among those entries still tied.
